ROTARIANS VOLUNTEER FOR EMERGENCY DUTIES IN THE NORTH OF OUR DISTRICT
GOOD NEWS- Rotary Volunteer support for local emergencies.
Bromley Rotary Emergency Support Team is now almost in place and Clubs are just finalising details and hopefully Rotarians preparing their Grab Bags !! Good to be prepared but let's hope we are not needed.
I have visited the Bexley lead for Emergency Planning and they are going to mirror the Bromley Rotary Volunteer Programme, giving it their own personal touch. This week I have asked Bexley Rotary Clubs to identify a co-ordinator and volunteers.
It is expected that Rotarians and partners will be asked to help in local Rest Centres.
KENT COUCIL is expecting to launch its volunteer training in the New Year.
ORPINGTON CROFTON CLUB
- with partners enjoyed a really interesting talk about Life in the MET. Kim Botting, a past Mayor of Bromley, told us how difficult it was to be accepted as a woman into a police team in the 70's and how the role of women has gradually changed. I can recommend her talk, insightful and amusing! (Monday)
54th CHUCHILL DINNER

Beckenham RC were out in force as they presented Edenbridge and Westerham RC with a large portrait of Sir Winston Churchill (Tuesday)
Over 120 Rotarians were present at this prestigious event on Tuesday of this week. special guests included Viscount de L'Isle the speaker, Denis Spiller RIBI President, DG Carol Vizzard with her husband Bryan.
Well Done Edenbridge and Westerham RC.
A Candlelit Welcome floodlit their Club Banner as we drove into Park wood Golf Club. the food was excellent and everyone looked really smart
ENGAGE 2018
SEPTEMBER 7-9, 2018
David Starkey will be talking about Sir Winston as a Leader. This will then lead into discussions focussing on Developing Leadership Skills through Rotary Projects.
MY TAXI ARRIVING - OFF TO HERNE BAY CLUB WITH CAROL

THE STAFF AT MY LOCAL STATION SEEM FASCINATED THAT I TAKE TRAINS TO SO MANY DIFFERENT PLACES
They are very friendly and helpful, ensuring I get the best deal from the edge of the London area and using my rail card! Many of the train managers and passengers know more about Rotary than they did before meeting me.
Today Wednesday. Off to Barming, where Carol picked me up and we had a 'car meeting' on the way to Herne Bay RC. A warm welcome and once more an interesting talk from Tom Yendle about Flat Spaces and Talk Tables. He went to see a possible plot of land for a SE Flat Space after the Rotary meeting. (Wednesday)
WATCH this SPACE we may have a go at ROTARY CROWD FUNDING to buy the building.http://www.flatspaces.co.uk for more information about the project.
Both these projects will take more than a year to establish so Carol and I are working together on them.
Flat spaces are Holiday Homes for guests needing specialist equipment and care. Tom is below with our rotary olio Champion Alan Titchmarsh, at the opening of the Hampshire Flat Space.

Friday -6 Satellite members held their monthly meeting at Finch House Cafe and Bakery Orpington today. We reviewed Service over the last month and arranged to meet on January 5th to plan our Talk Tables Project. No more meetings before Christmas as we have the Christmas collections and Festive dinners. (Friday)
thank you Finch House for your support. A super cafe. Why not try it when you are nearby.
We decided to focus on setting up a Talk Tables project in Orpington working with other organisations locally. we hope to be supported by both Orpington Crofton and Orpington Evening clubs.
Did you know that it only costs £7.50 a month to be a Satellite member of Rotary in this Club? Affordable. contact me if you want to know more. 07901911172
